Don't bother with the Origin launcher as it will not download any of them even if it states you can download or add it to the queue. Note 1: you can get all the DLC from the EA website. All in all, even now there is no reason not to play this game. The music and sound effects have been greatly improved and there is no MAKO anymore (although they added some horrible drone instead but you hardly use that - it's mostly used during firewalker missions which you can skip IMHO). I enjoyed visiting old places to see how they are now (like for example the citadel) or meeting up with my old party members. It's good that you can import your old character and choices you made in the first game will affect your play through in ME2 to a certain degree. The game is much more accessible than the first game and the story writing and world building is great and just continues to build on the foundation that was laid out with ME1. But as a videogame, it is a neutered, shallow shell of its predecessor.ĥ1h 58m ProgressThis game came out in 2010 and with some mods it is still very playable in 2021. The hubs are an improvement, the graphics engine is considerably more competent and the narrative is arguably more engaging and immersive. But, the breadth of content is very impressive, and some missions really shine. Planet scanning makes me want to drink Dran-O - download One Probe, All Resources mod to torpedo this garbage idea into smithereens, permanently. Squad leveling is nowhere near as engaging or interesting - there's very little choice in how to shape them. Squad mates are still incredibly dumb and will not follow orders, which will get you killed multiple times. Gameplay is dumbed down to a point where it's little more than a third person shooter, particularly at the beginning of the game. The story, while well told with excellent voice acting and line-to-line script, is almost completely inconsequential to the trilogy arc. All of the RPG meat and potatoes of the first game are completely ripped out, leaving nothing but a third-person action game with minor upgrade mechanics in its wake. 123h 36m PlayedA fairly sizeable disappointment after such a strong start to a Bioware trilogy.
